JDM has expressed an interest in rebooking the fight vs Sean Brady after his split decision win over Bassil Hafez this past weekend. JDM has received a lot of criticism for his performance after he was expected to smash him with ease. I understand all the criticism but do feel he deserves a bit of slack given the back to back weight cuts & multiple opponents he had to prepare for.
He was originally the betting favorite over Brady (although Brady became the favorite in the days prior to the fight's cancellation, which I detailed here)
Who do you think would win if they rebook this fight for UFC 293 in September?
JDM
X Bad fight IQ decisions vs Hafez
Brady
X Pieced up and finished by Belal Muhammad

I mean maybe this is the best thing to happen for JDM. Still got the win, and saw everything he needed to work on to get better.
As of right now its hard not to favor Brady after seeing JDMs performance.

Both guys have clear holes when it comes to the other's strengths, which makes me want the fight even more.
Right now I think Sean chokes him out, but if he gets caught against the cage he's absolutely f*cked. Dude showed against Belal that he doesn't know how to fight through being hurt, which would be a death sentence against someone like Jack.

JDM stopped 17 of 20 takedown attempts vs Hafez, if he stays on the feet for the majority of the fight he would finish Brady easily given what Belal did to him.

Brady has better gas tank than Hafez so he could and probably will get actual takedowns in round 2.
Hard to not favor Brady at the moment in a three round fight. If it's 5 I might and probably would go with Jack. As long as he doesnt put himself in bad positions and against Brady I doubt he would.

He couldn't even finish Hafez though once things started to get mixed up. I'm not saying he couldn't, but it's hard to not pick Brady right now.
Also, Belal is one of the best fighters in the world.

We don't know how Hafez measures up to Brady in terms of wrestling though, right now he's just a regional guy who's never won more than 2 fights in a row unlike Brady who was undefeated until he met the one with an unforgettable name.

Are you sure? I haven't been impressed with Brady's gas tank at all. And Hafez came in on short notice and exerted a sh*t ton of energy throughout the fight and still made it to the last bell.

JDM, Hafez was tough as hell and ate bombs that would have crumbled a lot of guys. Also having 3 opponent changes in 2 weeks has to be mentally deflating. Probably didn't know anything about the guy and just not as hyped and on point as he would have been if it was his original opponent(Brady).
JDM has really good boxing but he gets hit or trades too much for me. I feel like he has the striking IQ to be elite but probably missing that little bit of athleticism to have guys miss

I still would prefer jdm to not fight on the Sydney card. 2 weight cuts in a week followed by another weight cut 2 months later is a terrible idea in terms of body and mind.

Of course Belal is very good but he has a reputation for being pillow fisted and barely ever hurts anyone on the feet. I don't doubt Brady could beat JDM but the disparity in their striking skills is very large.

Yeah his cardio might be better with full camp for sure. But compared to this fight Brady has shown the ability to hit that double in later rounds. His cardio isnt among the best div but might be enough to bank two rounds vs Jack.

I never said it wasn't large. I just think grapplers should be favored over strikers. A short notice grappler just took a top prospect to a SD on short notice.

Depends on if he has a good weight cut or a tough one. But assuming he has learned from his last fight, I could see him having a better managed cut and being in much better shape. In that case I still have to favor JDM. Also, assuming/hoping he shows better fight IQ, because of learning from his last fight and being in a better physical condition/more rehydrated brain.

I need to rewatch Brady vs Belal again I guess because I remember Brady being absolute dead in the water already in rd 2. He couldn't handle the pressure what so ever so that will of course drain the gas tank but it's just that already in rd2 he looked like he couldn't catch his breath at all and became a gassed sitting duck.
I do feel fairly confident that Brady should be able to get JDM down in rd1 and then it gets interesting bc if I remember correctly one of Brady's favourite chokes is the arm triangle and he's heavy as sh*t on top and JDM looked like a white belt when Hafez had that arm triangle locked up.. So could be over in the 1st

I think a fully hydrated* JDM will put on a better showing and piece Brady up on the feet.
