Jack has to get a better contract while he can

he almost lost last fight and lost a ton of stock. …. So he should lock in a higher pay while he still can …

You dont negotiate a better contract after a questionable performance. You negotiate a better contract from a position of strength after a dominant performance.

This is a bad career move imo. The UFC will likely f*ck him over after this decision.

Misleading title, JDM is not having the last dispute, it's his potential opponents

so damn funny no one actually read it and don't realize it's his opponents demanding more.

Brandon Thatch 2.0 wants to be a diva now?

but it could also have a lot to do with UFC no longer comping tickets to the fighters for family and coaches. They gotta pay everything out of pocket now. Might not be an issue as much for local fighters but traveling wise this is gonna become more and more of a problem but hey that what happens when U Fight Cheap.

What is a bad career move?

Funny how TS can create a fake headline and get half the posters in here to expose they didn't even bother to read the post.

Aussie taxes? Or is he fighting on a $12k/12k?

Very likely both.

The taxes are outrageous for foreign fighters to fight here.

And Della would be on that sweet Contendwr Series money.

What is up with all the fights being scheduled and announced but nothing agreed on? Isn’t that a really poor business practice?

No, it makes perfect sense for the UFC because the fighters have no rights, so the UFC can usually bully them into doing what they want on short notice.

The only thing that the UFC cares about is meeting its content obligations for ESPN and putting on shows in specific markets a certain number of times a year.

LOL The taxation issue comes up every couple of years, and you see the same hysterical bullsh*t because people don't understand how taxation works.

Those are not outrageous tax rates.

Australia has a graduated income tax, just like every other western nation.

For example, someone who made $185K income according to that chart would pay $63,450 in tax. The tax is $61,200 for first $180,001 in income, and then $0.45 per every dollar of income above that.

Also, there's taxation treaties between most countries that entitle foreign nationals to refunds from their home tax agency for every penny that they pay while working internationally that's above what they'd normally have to pay in the place they're domiciled.

The actual problem here is the expense for the fighters' teams to travel internationally. I remember reading that the UFC has cut back on some of the comps for coaches/family members.

So unless there's a bunch of members of the same team booked on a specific card in order for the team to pool their expenses, it's not financially feasible for the fighters to go there.

Never fails. Even when you clip out the relevant part of the article or provide cliffs on a video, they still don't bother to read and just formulate an opinion based on the thread title.

While I am not debating that at all... I was merely pointing out the fact that it's bad business for the UFC to be announcing fights where the terms haven't been agreed on. That would include what the fighters wish to be paid, the opponent, the time and location. All that sh*t seems to have gone out the window in the WME era.

They've been doing the same sh*t since the Fertittas bought out SEG.

Also, Joe Silva was reportedly a much bigger bully when it came to forcing fighters to compete when they didn't want to than Maynard or Shelby are at present. People didn't hear about it when he was active because he didn't do media and the fighters were afraid of him.

I don't agree with it, but businesses tend to abuse workers when they don't have any clear rules to follow about the employment relationship.

But since so many fighters either don't want rock the boat or enthusiastically lick the UFC's boots, I really don't bother advocating for them anymore.

Is it the income tax or do Aussie fighters not need to pay Aussie income tax if they fight abroad or why is it more expensive for them in their own country than in Vegas?

Vegas is probably the cheapest place when it comes to taxes, there is a reason its the "fight capital" and boxers go there for most of the big fights, the issue with Australia taxes seems to be for to the foreigners, not sure if or why they would be taxed differently than the locals tho, makes no sense at all, if anything it should be the total opposite, they are not a burden on their economy, they shouldnt exactly contribute, even when they are actually doing it by participating in an event there.

Australians get taxed on worldwide income the same as locally sourced income if they are a tax resident of Australia. Considering this guy is fighting out of Perth and is an Aussie, the taxes are going to be the same as he will owe the ATO tax on everything. Literally won't make a difference in tax if he fights in the US or Aus.

Source - I'm an aussie with an extensive understanding of tax

Probably isn't great for foreigners though but that's the same in any tax nation and a lot of countries have DTA agreements to handle this

Crazy. Imagine your boss tell you to take a plane to the other side of the world, deal with all the hassle in that, do the exact same job but get paid less.. Insanity the UFC not taking care of that sh*t.

Makes me a bigger Ngannou fan everytime I read sh*t like this.

Travel is on the UFC.

They give you two coach tickets.

Anyone else you need to bring for your team is at your expense - literally EVERYONE has more than one corner traveling with them. I'd also note traveling coach across the world when cutting weight is absolutely miserable.

U Fight Cheap is across the board.
